Forgive Us Our Sins - A Haunting Short Story

In this short story of colonial America, hard-drinking ex-craftsman Darius, has a simple job: clear the ruins of the previous house on an abandoned lot to make way for a fine new home. But as autumn winds howl Darius discovers the site may not be as deserted as it first appeared. What happened there? Who—or what—refuses to leave? And why do the demands the spirit makes seem to carry a meaning beyond the fate of the ruined house? Set against the stark landscape and superstitions of colonial America, this is a tale of mystery, guilt, and the lingering shadows of the past.
